
JOHN TURNER
John W Turner has a passion for applying new technologies to help others. As an energy consultant he implemented cutting-edge energy efficient designs utilizing both mechanical controls and lighting solutions. He developed projects for both private clients and the Department of Defense.
John’s passion, however, is serving Veterans. John has served his nation with distinction and honor. Joining the US Coast Guard in 1992, he rose to the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class. He attended the Field Artillery Officer Basic Coarse at Ft. Sill Oklahoma, and was selected among his peers to attend Airborne School which he completed in July, 2003. His service took him to Iraq (August 2005 thru November 2006). He left the Army in 2007.
Possessing both a degree from Purdue University and a distinguished military career, John possesses a combination of skills to improve processes, achieve efficiencies and a track record of success at every level.
In 2009, John became heavily involved in the North Carolina Veterans Community. As a member of VFW Post 7383 he was invited to brief State Legislators on Veterans legislation. He has since been instrumental in passing over 10 legislative bills in North Carolina helping Veterans with transition issues, mental health, and job placement. John has worked closely with members of Local, State, and Federal Government on Veteran Mental Health Issues, frequently briefing elected officials, local leaders, state agency heads, and senior agency leaders of the Federal Government. Was Awarded the Army Commendation Medal and the Combat Action Badge
Received the Daughters of the American Revolution Medal of Honor
Was asked to speak before North Carolina legislative Committees on Veteran-related legislation and Issues
Was selected to attend US Department of Sate Round Table with International Leaders
Served as a Veterans Advocate on three occasions with the Congressional Directed Medical Research Program on TBI/PTSD research
Has participated on Panels with Research Leaders from Top American Educational Institutions
Formed a Veterans Experience Working Group focused on treating suicide prevention, homelessness, and behavioral health issues
Has guided State Veteran initiatives
Founded and continues to advise a North Carolina Non-Profit to assist 21st Century Veterans.
